Apples are pure, innocent and sweet. I do my best to eat an apple a day. Not just to keep the doctor away but mainly for the fact that they are delicious and make me feel so good 😊

Kittens like apples, are pure as they are refreshing to watch play, innocent as they are new to the world – exploring in the most adorable ways, and sweet (not in a – I just want to eat them kind of sense haha) as in they make your eyes light up and fill your heart with happiness by being in their presence ❤

Green apples are my favourite. I am fortunate to work at a company that provides breakfast and fresh fruit every day. I usually have a yoghurt, apple and banana for breakfast during the week days as they are easy to snack on while I’m working at my desk. I go for green apples but occasionally grab pink lady apples (which are super sweet).

Yesterday it was at the end of my work day when I headed to a train station in the CBD of Sydney. I hopped on the train to head back home excited for the weekend (Yay for Friday!). I sat down and began checking my emails as usual. I hear “Excuse me everyone, I’m sorry to bother you but if I could just have a minute of your time…”.

I look up and there stands a young man. He looks a little rough around the edges yet has an innocent face and calm presence. He is well spoken, “I do not have a place to stay and I do not want to sleep outside again, I’ve tried asking for help elsewhere but no-one has been of any help. Could any of you give me a place to stay or some money or food. Anything please?”, he continues to plead looking around the train carriage.

My first thought was ‘I need to help him, maybe he can stay with me but… you unfortunately can never be too sure. He is a stranger after all. Now how else can I help him?’ I then remember that I had a green apple in my bag and I knew it wasn’t a lot but I wanted to help even just a little. Everyone else was ignoring this man.

I quickly grabbed the apple out of my handbag. “Sir, I have an apple”, I replied reaching out with the apple in my right hand. He looked at me with kind eyes and said, “Thank you, it’s nice to be acknowledged”, and walked off with a hopeful smile. When he said that, my heart broke for that fact that he was happy that someone noticed him and secondly that I was able to help him smile, given his unfortunate situation.

Homeless people are people, they have unfortunately fallen into a situation that has snowballed with time, leaving them to have no choice but to live on the streets. Yes, I do understand that some do put on an act, or so I’ve been told. The thing is I never assume that a person is faking to be homeless or is going to use the money that you give them to do something bad to themselves. I feel it is best to help someone who is asking for help.

We should not judge. Anyone, and I really do mean anyone can become homeless. A wife who becomes a widow (her husband was the main provider), a father who lost his home and life that he built due to a divorce, a teenager who has gone from foster home to foster home as they have no parents, a young man who was kicked out of home because his parents didn’t agree with his sexuality… I could go on and on with many examples ❤

At the end of the day, we all live on this one planet that is here for us, as we should be here for mother nature and each other. Please, when you see someone homeless. At the very least do not judge them as anyone of us given the unfortunate circumstances could have this happen to. Say “Hi” and smile when you can. Give money when you can and have faith that they will make the right decision with how they spend that money on themselves. You can always give food or water. Anything helps. Just spread the love, kindness and hope, to show that someone cares to acknowledge their existence.

Today on my YouTube channel I am sharing with you a kitten sleeping on some apples watercolour painting. A kitten is young, new to the world, discovering what the world has to offer. With plenty of love the kitten will learn to know that they are safe, loved and can enjoy life. I believe everyone should feel this and have at least one other being to truly love them.
