Have you ever noticed when someone else smiles towards you, you smile too. As when you see someone upset, you tend to feel a touch of sadness within your heart. It is interesting how we seem to at times reflect the emotions of another person, when coming into contact with them ❤
It shows that we are connected. Having a natural common understanding of emotions. Since we all feel happy, sad and angry at times. Each are emotions that are normal, reflecting a given situation. What I love about our shared emotions is that we can bring out the best in others. As we mentioned, smiling at another person can cause them to smile back at you 🙂
Well, maybe not every time. It is fine if they do not smile back, at least you tried. Usually, most people will be welcoming of a lovely smile that is towards them. So just like we can positively influence others to smile, we can do our best to cheer someone up too. You can cheer up people in a number of ways. The first step to help make someone feel better is to ask how they are.
Asking this can allow answers to surface and potentially assist with coming up with a solution to fix their problem. Of course, the problem does not have to be fixed every time, as people appreciate at the very least being heard. Which is why showing active listening is the second step. Let them speak and show you are listening by doing gestures and replying with short answers.
Once they are done speaking, as a third step you can then share a common understanding and maybe make them laugh. Say something funny to cheer them up. You could say something related to the situation. If they fell over, you may mention about a time when you fell over in front of many people and that they are lucky no one saw them fall, as when you fell it was super embarrassing haha 😀
Sharing similar experiences shows that we are more alike than we think. It feels amazing when another person gets what you are going through, especially if it is a tough time and they have been through it all before. Therefore, the online world is a wonderful place to find people who have been through the same things as you or someone you know are currently going through.
It can be helpful to first listen to the person you are helping and if you cannot fully relate, try researching a person who is going or been through similar circumstances and refer them. It is fine if they rather get through the matter without someone to relate to, at least you know you did your best to help. The most beautiful thing is that when we cheer someone else up, it makes us cheer up too. Helping another being can bring you so much joy ❤
Today on my YouTube channel I am sharing with you a coloured pencil drawing of a sleepy mochi fox. Foxes are playful and very cute when running around. It is now day 58 of my #drawingdailychallenge. Mochi is a delicious dessert that comes in the cutest range of colours. I am creating mini comics of them (see mochi squirrel post here). I am also currently working out a new post schedule for my blog and new content (see update post here) 😀
I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for reading and watching! Do your best to bring joy into others lives. Know that you have the power to influence those who you come into contact with. Be happy and show all kindness. What we put out into the world, we get back. Love makes the world a better place. Have a nice day!
