We are days away from Easter and it really does feel different this year. There is this feeling of should I be enjoying chocolate, hot cross buns and delicious food during this time? As there is a lot of suffering happening around the world, with coronavirus (COVID-19) continuing to spread. I am sure many of us feel this, that on one hand we want to live ‘normally’ day-to-day like we do not have a care in the world but on the other hand we feel guilty for having ‘happy moments’ or even simple moments for that matter.
These feelings cause so much confusion. Suffering is constantly happening around the world. Even before the coronavirus, many types of situations with pain being caused existed (and are still in existence). People starving, being homeless, having no love or support in their life… the list goes on and on. It is sad to know that many of us could not help others suffering like that then, and cannot now ❤
Thinking about Easter. Do you think for those of us who can purchase chocolate and Easter related food, that we should still celebrate? Enjoy Easter time like we usually would each year? These things may be seen like simple indulgences by some and for others to be able to do that would be a luxury. It is interesting thinking about the different perspectives all over the world. As the saying goes one person’s trash is another person’s treasure.
The sad truth is that most of us cannot not do anything to take a person out of a bad situation and give them a better life. It would be wonderful if we all had the ability and resources to change a person’s life for the better but most of us cannot do that. The only thing that we have control over is ourselves. The least we can do to help a stranger is offer an ear to listen, some words of encouragement and cheer them on to a better way of life 🙂
There is an endless amount of questions, that we could keep asking a million times and not get any answers. I feel that it is important to acknowledge what is currently happening in the world, by keeping up-to-date with the news (finding a good balance with the amount of time you spend on the news is very important to ensure you are kept up-to-date but are not excessively watching it), communicating with others and accepting what is going on.
We have to keep being strong, supporting one another and having hope that things will get better. For some it may not be best to celebrate Easter, for others it is much needed to take their mind off the disheartening events. My heart has been hurting a lot for our world. It is sad that the number of people passing away keeps rising each day, as do the number of coronavirus cases. All of this pain can be dangerous to our overall health and wellbeing.
I am choosing to celebrate Easter, to keep some normality in my life. I think it is fine to live your days as close as you normally would do, while still having empathy for those who have lost a loved one to the virus. We do not need our hearts to suffer anymore than they already do. Of course, no day is going to be completely normal for the time being but we do need to ease the pain, even just a little and do the things that make us happy. We are no good to anyone if we cannot function properly in a positive way.
Today on my YouTube channel I am sharing with you a coloured pencil drawing of an adorable Easter Bunny laying on top of a hot cross bun. It is so sweet how cuddly the rabbit looks on the bun. It is now day 12 of my #drawingdailytofightcoronavirus challenge. I will keep drawing each day until we beat coronavirus. We all need to continue to stay home and practice social distancing, even through Easter time. Let’s all stay safe, keep our distance from each other and communicate online from afar ❤
I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for reading and watching! Keep your kind heart strong. Help out others where you can and encourage those around you to be caring. Keep staying safe and healthy. Have a lovely day!
