Each day we have a sense of uncertainty. What is going to happen to us? When will this end? Will it happen to someone we know? Is this going to mentally break us? There are these unnerving questions and many more that we seek answers for, even though it would be hard to swallow, if the truth is not what we want to hear โค
It is understandable for some people wanting to switch off, be in denial with what is happening. So many are losing their jobs and have no idea how they are going to put food on the table. Since we are connected with the help of technology, we can see how our countries are helping their own country and members of the public. It is questionable why another country has implemented a helpful strategy, yet others have fallen behind and are indecisive.
Here in Australia a freeze of up to 6 months has been allowed for mortgagees but majority of people rent, myself included. We are yet to get an answer of what will happen, where it comes to paying rent as many of us do not have an income now. Unfortunately being a New Zealand citizen I cannot claim welfare or any benefits of that kind from either my home country or here in Australia (I have been living in Sydney for almost 7 years). I am unsure of what is going to happen if I cannot pay my rent.
I do not feel bad for myself as I am not alone. Many people who can claim welfare will still struggle as they have a whole family to feed, provide water for and will be stressed since everyone is home under the same roof for months on end. It will be hard for some to be able to have time to themselves. I really do not want to but it was announced that from mid-April that if you are eligible, you can claim some of your Superannuation (retirement money). So I will apply for that as soon as the form is available ๐
I am staying optimistic and positive. Doing my best to not make my family (all New Zealand) worried as I have no family here. What helps me stay positive is thinking that there are over 600,000 Kiwis living in Australia and we are all going through the same things as Australians to some extent. There is stress, anxiety and fear of the unknown but we will overcome this. What I am going to do from tomorrow onwards is draw a drawing related to fighting the coronavirus (COVID-19) everyday and I will not stop until we beat it! ๐
I have strong faith that we will overcome this together. Please follow regulations set, stay home if you can, stay safe and stay healthy. If you have not already seen my first coronavirus video, please check it out on my YouTube Channel. So far, it has touched hundreds of hearts which makes me very happy. Thank you so much for reading! I really hope this helps you during these hard times. Have a wonderful day!
