It is heartbreaking to hear of the coronavirus affecting more people, with each day passing there seems to be more cases being announced. COVID-19 has been happening for months and has spread further, causing a fear amongst many of us. The fear has been reflected, showing with some people being violent to one another and grocery stores selling out of most items β€
Now I am not an expert in this area and most likely do not have much to add to what you may already know but I feel the need to add to a positive awareness. One that can hopefully make its way around our lovely planet. What is beautiful about being human is that we can love, have hope, help others and make good choices, as we unite together to get through such a devastating time.
I am not going into the formalities of what the coronavirus is (as I am sure you have already read much on it, as the events have been getting updated constantly). What I want to look at are ways that we can keep ourselves keep healthy, strong and continue to be kind to each other. The good in your beautiful heart is what I want to come out and stay present no matter what π
The first step that we are going to take is to ensure we are practising good hygiene. Whenever you go to the toilet and before you eat, please always wash your hands. I say ‘please’ as it is frustrating to know that many people do not do this. I understand we are all unique and have our differences but it is honestly disgusting if you do not do something so easy as to wash your hands.
You may be thinking, “There’s no way that people do not wash their hands!”. Haha, how I wish that were so. Maybe you are one of the ones who does not. Are you? I am not going to interrogate you to get an answer. What is most important is that you know what you do and that people can change. So please, again, make sure you wash your hands when you go to the toilet and before you eat. This will help protect not only you from germs but also everyone else that you come into contact with π
The next step is that I briefly wanted to touch on how some people have been unkind and violent towards Chinese and other Asians as they believe the virus is their fault. Well, I’m here to say that it is not their fault, a virus does not choose a particular person, animal or country. Viruses do not discriminate, they will simply spread onto whatever they can get into contact with. I am half Filipino/half Kiwi and truly breaks my heart when I see people being aggressive towards a person because of their race.
In general we should do our best to avoid judging others and if we do judge, it should be based on how a person is, not what they look like. Are they cruel, mean or do they hurt others deliberately? – Look for such traits and if needed, judge upon that. Just be aware when you criticise another being, you cannot expect them to listen to what you have to say. The best option is to kill them with kindness. If that does not work, walk away π
Lastly, as the coronavirus is continuing to spread, do your best to stay home in your spare time (avoid going out where possible). Buy enough food and supplies (if you can find much, so many places have been selling out fast and are yet to re-stock). Share what you can with family or those close to you. Be kind to others, smile or wave when you walk pass them. It is in the bad times that we need more love, kindness and support, to know that we are not alone.
You never know how much someone needs to be acknowledged as they may not have any family or friends who live nearby. We are not responsible for other people but it does not hurt to show some compassion to a stranger. Right now, we need to unite and support one another. Still finding joy as each day goes by. Showing love and empathy to those who have loss someone dear to them from this virus. I am sure each one of us could not imagine losing a loved one like that β€
Today on myΒ YouTube channel I am sharing with you a colour pencil drawing of a chibi girl sending prayers in hope that everyone will be healthy and get through this. She is so sweet thinking about love, caring for others and taking steps to be safe π
I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for reading and watching! Please do your best to stay safe, healthy, practice good hygiene and be kind to others. We are all in this together and need each other to get through this unnerving time. Have a blessed day!
