Mink Drawing – Coloured Pencil 🌸 artistbybeauty

I love animals so much! I had never thought about minks before as I hadn’t known too much about them. I guess its because I am originally from New Zealand and the closest animal we have to a mink is the ferret 🙂

It was only until about three years ago that I came across a makeup brand selling synthetic eyelashes, that I noticed they were also selling mink hair lashes and thought to myself, “I wonder what kind of animal a mink is?”. Well of course I googled it and…

Came across beautiful big eyes staring at me, with lovely silky hair and standing in a cat like pose. I couldn’t believe that anyone would want to wear this precious babies hair as temporary eyelashes. It makes me feel sick thinking about it.

Now this is how I personally feel about real hair eyelashes. For me it is unnecessary to wear another animals fur or hair. Especially for beauty purposes. I care about animals deeply and just can’t imagine taking ones life just for a coat, hair extensions or eyelashes to wear.

Minks have their own way in nature as all animals do and deserve to freely live their lives on their own terms. I drew this lovely mink as I wanted you to look into their beautiful eyes and see how adorable they are.

Today on my YouTube channel I am sharing with you a drawing of a mink using colour pencils. I think this mink looks super cute. I love their eyes and smile. It is just too cute! Makes me very happy.

I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for reading and watching! Remember to be kind to all beings. We share this lovely planet together and are all needed. We need each other. Have a nice day!

  1. Hi Capili, I recently mentioned to a friend of mine named Resa (of “Graffiti Lux Art and More” blog) I prefer to see “animal beauty” where it belongs…alive and in the wild.
But your mention of Mink and Ferrets reminded me of another conversation I had on animal art. I ask a friend if they had ever drawn a Weasel or a Stoat and they replied, “No, I always get them confused – they look similar” to which I replied “No they don’t…one is Weasley recognisable and the other’s Stoatly different!” Thanks again for sharing your art.

      1. Hi there, no need to apologise I understand how difficult it is keep on top of all the replies on all the different social platforms we use nowadays! It’s hard work but fun for me as I have friends who like you live in Australia and New Zealand but I also have friends in the USA so I have to work in three time zones to communicate with everyone.
