Sleeping Moon Sun Cat – Watercolours 🌸 artistbybeauty

Have you ever wondered what a sun and moon would evolve into if they merged? Yes, you say. The sun would eat the moon like nothing, you add. Well… maybe we should just for the moment ignore the idea of them merging, and think of another concept.

How about a crescent moon that sits perfectly next to the sun (with a great distance in between), two triangle-shaped stars beaming slightly above the moon and… hmm… now to explain the tail-shape under the sun… well… and a fire-tail-shaped piece of the sun that’s living it’s new best life, slightly below the sun lol 😀

Ok, I’m probably not making sense and sound just a tad bit crazy but don’t you just love where your thoughts and imagination can take you? I would be forever bored without it. Imagination gives me ideas and I bring those ideas to life through my art and writing.

With this concept painting I originally wanted to create a love-like story between the sun and the moon but the more I painted the more odd ideas popped inside my head. I love how this concept turned out. The moon and the sun coming together to form an adorable sleeping cat.

I actually already want to paint this concept into an oil painting and go into much more detail. Yes, I shall do it! I think I will do this with most of my watercolour paintings – re-create them into more detailed art pieces and film the process so you will be able to see the comparison with each. That sounds great! ❤

Today on my YouTube channel I am sharing with you a sleeping moon sun cat watercolour painting. I am super in-love with this idea. I love how the cat looks cosy and curled up in space.

I hope you enjoy the video. Thank you so much for reading and watching! Remember to always be yourself and do what you love. Have a lovely day! 🙂

  1. Hello Capili, I think your Sleeping Moon Sun Cat has a very distinct Lion like appearance to me. It is the king of the big cats curled up in the Serengeti…the solar flares from the sun being the mane. And I can sort of see a “face” formed by the darker orange brush strokes. Imaginative as always!
