Flower Art – Playing with Watercolours 🌸 artistbybeauty

Flowers are gentle, beautiful and elegant. From the petals, stem, to the leaves – each one of us can appreciate the beauty of a flower.

Nature is wonderful to draw inspiration from when it comes to creating art. I do find it a lot of fun to paint flowers, as you can put minimal detail and the painting will still look pretty.

Less is more at times. Whenever I get the chance I like to do quick paintings, using set time limits and complete them freely without a draft first.

It can be a nice way to let your creativity run free when you pick up a paint brush and start painting on a canvas with little thought. It’s amazing the pieces you can create in the spree of the moment. You’d be surprised.

As I have mentioned – I am currently learning how to better my watercolour painting skills. So far, it is going well. I do like the little details of texture that watercolours give on paper. It is subtle and lovely.

Thick textures are what I usually like to work with, which is why acrylics are my favourite. Acrylics are easy to build up layers with and dry fast. Watercolours do dry fast from my own experience but they do take a lot of work to build up layers.

It takes more time, well for me anyway, to create a watercolour painting as I have to change my water cup often and the paint goes on thinly (as to why they are called watercolour paints I guess).

I am happy with how my watercolour attempts have been turning out. The results are great and make me happy. I feel proud with every new painting I complete.

I am not yet fully sold on the idea that watercolours are a great media to use but they are slowly growing on me. Maybe I will eventually fall in-love with them, especially if I decide to purchase a quality set of watercolour paints in the future.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the art video time-lapse. I will be filming more to share. Thank you so much for reading and watching. Have a great day!
