The Power of Affirmations – WELLBEING

I had never practiced the use of affirmations until I read the book ‘You can heal your life’ by Louise L. Hay (read more about the book here).

When I read about how affirmations could help with making people’s lives better, I thought it was an interesting way to change ones mindset, and outlook on life. The idea of being able to control what you let go of and what comes into your life, felt very empowering for me to read about.

Affirmations have really helped me with achieving goals in my life and attracting what I want. I like to write one affirmation a day, reading it before I go to bed, and placing it under my pillow. Then the first thing in the morning that I do is read the same affirmation to start my day in a positive light.

Doing this everyday helps put a positive thought into my head, which it causes me to believe it to be true. As I believe it is true to begin with, it then becomes true. It’s basically as Napoleon Hill (an American author) said “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve” – this really is true. For example: if you feel and believe that you are too lazy or cannot exercise, you will believe that, because you are putting those thoughts in your head, and repeating them – making the negative thoughts stronger.

Whereas if you put positive thoughts in your head such as “I love how I feel after doing exercise, it makes me feel fit and happy” or “Doing exercises will make me not just look better, but also feel better. I want to live a long healthy life”, these thoughts will naturally make you want to exercise as they are positive thoughts that will allow you to have positive results.

The point of using affirmations each day is to help you to achieve your goals and become the best version of yourself. Isn’t that what you want? To be the best version of yourself? To excel at all that you want to achieve? The only one who can stop you from achieving your dreams is you! – which is a good thing as you are in control of your life and are responsible for it.

Now affirmations may not work for you. Everyone is different, so what works for one person may not work for another, but it does not hurt to try something new. So try this: before you go to sleep: write an affirmation on a piece of paper (it must say ‘I’ not ‘you’ – for example if you want to be more confident write on the piece of paper ‘I am confident’ or ‘I am a great speaker’ – whatever it is that you want to gain confidence in), read out loud the affirmation 5 times, put it under your pillow, repeat the affirmation in your head 5 times before you sleep, and then when you wake up – read it 5 times.

Another way of using affirmations that may work for you is to write them out, then stick them on your mirror or walls. That way you will naturally read them without you realising.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Thank you so much for reading. Let me know if you try or already use affirmations. Have a great day!

  1. There is so much truth in what you speak to yourself as well as what you speak into others. Life and power is in the words. Whatever you release out inot the universe shifts to that very thing and manifest it positively or negatively.

  2. Nice topic, Capili! Have you ever seen that YouTube video in which a father holds his daughter in front of the mirror each day, making her say affirmations! It’s so empowering and endearing. I don’t really write it down, but I do tell it to myself. It sounds strange, but when inner Sarah is feeling down or scared, I try to comfort myself and tell myself that I’ll be fine, that I can do it. The worst thing you can do is as you say, repeatingly telling yourself you can’t anyway, why try… I prefer surrounding myself with positive energy. Great post! Have a nice weekend! xoxo Sarah

    1. No I haven’t seen that video yet 🙂 🙂 I will find it, and watch it, sounds amazing. That is good speaking to yourself words of encouragement ❤ ❤ Yes it is best to surround ourselves with positive energy. I have heard that sometimes its good to picture yourself as a child, and uplift the child by encouraging them. Doing this is good as you will say to your child-self that they are beautiful, smart, and so on. Sometimes as adults we can be harsh on ourselves, and say things that we would never say to a child. So its a good way to ensure that we uplift ourselves with positive words, and thoughts 😀 😀 Thank you. You have a nice weekend too x x

Good morning from New Zealand 🙂 🙂

It is my last full-day here today, so I am up nice and early. I have to make the most of today, and spend more time with family.

It has been such a short trip, the time has passed by so fast. Next time I visit it will have to be for longer.

Today I am reblogging a post on Affirmations. I love saying affirmations on a daily basis to myself. I will post my Weekly Diary for last week on Wednesday since I am short on time.

Ok, I will get ready now then go to my Mum’s. Thank you so much for reading. Have a great day!
