The power of a shopping list – FOOD

We all have to eat every single day, and since we have to eat each day we must plan our meals for the week.

I like to plan my meals for the week before I write a shopping list. Doing this will ensure that I do not miss an item, and will not have to return to the grocery store until the next week.

Having a shopping list is such a powerful tool.

Post 18 January 2017 Pic 1.pngHere are five benefits of having a shopping list

1. Can help you save money

When you have a shopping list, and stick to only purchasing the items on your list, you will save money. If you want to take it a step further you can look at grocery catalogues that you receive in your mailbox or you can look online to write down the best deals, with the prices (that way you will know exactly how much you will be paying). Having a shopping list can help you avoid buying unnecessary items, saving you money.

2. Can help with your health

A shopping list can help with your health, as you will be only purchasing the items on your list. We have the choice to put good, healthy food into our bodies, so whatever you put on your list is what is going to be consumed by you. Always make the best choices for yourself. Have a balanced diet, making your shopping list full of healthy foods that are going to help you live a long, and happy life.

3. Will save you time

When you know exactly what it is you need, you will be able to go in, and grab those items, then leave. A shopping list is great for saving time. As you will purchase all the items on your list, and be out of the grocery store in no time. Another benefit is that you will not have to return to the grocery store until the next week, as whatever is on your list is all you need for the week (saving you time, and money).

A great tip to save time efficiently is to write your list in the order of the store. Meaning if when you first enter the store, and it is the fruit section, make sure you list all the fruit that you are wanting to buy at the top of the list. If the cleaning section is at the end of the store, list it at the bottom of the list.

4. Reduce stress

As per the above benefits, when you save money – it can reduce financial stress, when you are taking care of your health – it can reduce stress on the body, and when a shopping list saves you time – that will also reduce your stress, as you will have more time for other things. When you have a shopping list it gives power to you. Meaning that you are in control, and may even enjoy the shopping experience more.

5. Can prevent waste

Having a shopping list will help you to avoid splurge of the moment purchases, that you did not actually need. Always remember that what is on your list is all that you need to purchase. It is also good to even snack on something little before you go shopping so that you do not get tempted to purchase some on-the-go food, that may make you feel good in the moment, but can make you feel sick later on as it is unhealthy food.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope you found these benefits helpful, and that you use a shopping list from now on (or continue to use one if you already do). Have a lovely day!
