HAUL – New paints and brushes – ART SUPPLIES

Oil paints are my favourite type of paint to work with. Though every now and then I love to paint with acrylics.

I was out of acrylic paints, so I decided to purchase some online from Officeworks. I just wanted some paints that I could play around with, and do some messy quick drying paintings.

For the month of December I have been completing a drawing challenge, by drawing Anime and Disney characters each day. The last drawing is going to be on Christmas day. You can view the first six drawings here or visit my instagram to see all up-to-date drawings.

Once I complete the drawing challenge I will start a painting challenge with the following art supplies in the New Year >^.^< (I am just deciding on a theme).

post-19-dec-2016-pic-2J. Burrows – Acrylic paint – It is essential to have both a black, and a white paint. Having these colours allows you to create shadows, highlights, and mix with other colours to make both dark and light shades. I purchased the shades: Black Night and Snow White, which each retail for $9.48 AUD (for 200 ml).

post-19-dec-2016-pic-3J. Burrows – Acrylic paint – A great tip for painting beginners is to purchase black, white, red, blue, and yellow paint. Having primary colours will allow you to be able to create all the colours you need. It is great for artist to know how to mix and create colours as it can save space having less supplies, and also cut down on cost.

I purchased the colours: Cherry Red, Sapphire, and Canary Yellow, which each retail for $9.48 AUD (for 200 ml). What I love about these paints is that they are: non-toxic, high in pigment, dry to a satin finish, and can be thinned with water. This makes these paints safe for children aged 4+ to use as well. So they can be used for family fun painting activities.

post-19-dec-2016-pic-4Micador paint brushes – I needed some new brushes that could allow me to paint fine details as well as be used to create messy textures. I chose to purchase the Micador Craft Brushes pack that retails for $7.88 AUD. This pack contains four types of brushes: 2x soft hair round brushes in size 2 & 4, and 2x bristle flat brushes in size 1/4″ & 8.

These sizes are perfect for the painting techniques I will be using. I also purchased a Micador – Roymac 1600 flat paint brush in size 10 for $1.68 AUD. This brush will be great to fill in backgrounds with colour.

post-19-dec-2016-pic-5Canson – Painting Pad – Yes it is a kids painting pad >^.^< I just fell in love with the rough texture. I thought it would be interesting to see the results once I paint on it. It is suitable for acrylic paint as well as gouache. This painting pad retails for $5.98 AUD (it contains 12x A4 sheets).

I am really looking forward to doing a painting challenge next month. Just need to decide on a theme. Thank you so much for reading. Have a great day!

  1. Reblogged this on Artist by beauty and commented:

Yay another lovely day in Sydney 🙂 🙂 Not too hot at 31 degrees (°C).

Just been busy with work, study, many assignments, readings, and activities. It is mid-afternoon now, I hung out some more washing, and there are quite alot of wasp outside (I think someone has a wasp hive in their backyard).

They are all over the flowers near my clothesline. I do not mind them, I just do not want to get stung so I keep a good distance from them.

Today is a re-blog post on paints that I got in December 2016 (wow seems like ages ago, time really flies). I will be re-blogging post for most of this week, and most likely next week as I need to focus on my studies.

I will share my artwork as soon as I can. I love using acrylic paints. I love creating mysterious paintings. My blog should be back to normal within one to two weeks.

Thank you so much for reading 😀 😀 Have a wonderful day!
